Demographics: The breakdown of racial and ethnic groups are: White (56.87%); Asian (22.34%); Hispanic (8.23%); Black or African American (7.73%). The median age for residents is 39.6. According to the 2020 US Census, the median household income was $113,782.
Brief History: The area was first settled by Europeans in 1750 and was known as Bradford's Ordinary. In 1771, the town of Cary was established and named after Samuel Fenton Cary. By the late 19th century, it had grown into a bustling village largely because of the new railway tracks. By the mid-20th century, the city began to expand rapidly due to its proximity to the Research Triangle Park.
Area Info: Cary is the 7th most populous city in North Carolina. The area is a very popular suburb of Raleigh, providing access to all of the amenities of the city and the Research Triangle. Cary is a fast-growing city known for its family-friendly atmosphere and endless opportunities for things to do.

Parks and Recreation: The Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources in Cary manages over 30 parks and 80 miles of greenway. Within these parks are multiple playgrounds, greenspaces, dog parks, walking and hiking trails, picnic areas, and sports courts. The department also manages four sports venues, community centers, community gardens, and a cultural arts facility.
Public Transportation: The City of Cary is served by GoCary while also partnering with GoRaleigh and GoTriangle. GoCary provides multiple bus routes throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Education: Public schools within Cary fall under the management of the Wake County School District. There are currently 31 public schools serving about 28,000 students, as well as 21 private schools serving 2,884 students. Cary is home to a few higher education institutions as well, such as Wake Technical Community College - Western Wake Campus, American Institute of Higher Education, and Accreditation University.
